Color in a polish diamond depends on imperfection / inclusions at atomic level. And the parameters + size plays a large role in the final grade of a polish diamond. Colorless diamonds are viewed in table down orientation while comparing and grading the color in D to Z range (For fancy cut diamonds, the stones with color Q and down are also observed face up, while determining color grade).
As the color depends on shape, cut style, parameters, symmetry and the size of the polish diamond, it is important to estimate the color of the future polish, to optimize the rough diamond, and to arrive at the most profitable solution in a piece of rough.
One way of estimating the expected color is to collect transmission spectrum in a diamond and make scientific estimation using DZ+ software. Another way to approximate the color for all possible solution is to forecast color (approximated by the expert) for one of the symmetric RBC solution, and let the science calculate estimated color for rest of the possible solution from the rough.
DZ Lite software allows you to perform this function, and suggest you the most profitable solution out of 10s or 100s of possible solution you have in the rough.
This software allows you to estimate color for all solutions (rounds as well as fancies) in D to Z range with size limited to 0.6 Ct polish.
This software allows you to estimate color for all solutions (rounds as well as fancies) in D to Z range with size limited to 1.6 Ct polish.
This software allows you to estimate color for all solutions (rounds as well as fancies) in D to Z range with no size limits.
